I found out when reconfiguring my IIS that XP has a built in messenger service.... this is the f***in thing that has crashed me more than anything else while playing worms! basically, it is suposed to be used by companys to update you with information about your hardware... but illegally used, it is often used to advertise porn/warez/etc... if you have XP and have this problem, go into your admin controls (in the control panel) and turn the f***in thing off for good i can now host matches!!! cos i dont need to reply on my firewall being on all of the time, and i dont have to worry about it being turned on when i enter AG!!!

[glow=green,5,0]These spam messenger service ad will be blocked by any personal firewall that’s worth its salt. If they are getting through to you and you are running a firewall I'd consider playing it. It should be set not to allow anything in that was not requested (or known about by you) such as dodgy messenger ads. You can easily leave the ports you need for your web wanking. When the messenger service is running 'legally' it will always have requested the message that it puts on your screen and thus be allowed through your firewall. If you are having trouble hosting games with your firewall up then you need to allow the wwp.exe file to pass through it on whatever ports and protocols it feels like... If your firewall doesn’t allow that then you'll been to check its logs and find out what ports you have to open.
Basically , you can host games while you have your firewall up and the messenger service turned on.
Hear endeth the rank.
