Hey guys,
My demented needs to tell you something I've been talking with me room mate Tiago yesterday at night.
I think we've all know how nice is our comunity in terms of friendship and, mostly, worming power!! How about changing CWT to WWC, it would become the one and only WORMS WORLD CUP, and you wonder why we thought of this? Because, my friends, instead of a nice t-shirt for award, the prize for the podium members would be REAL CUPs!!! I'm starting to investigate how much do they cost (of course, I can't afford to buy those huge amazing cups but a set of those cups more simple would be great), but first I'd would like to ear from you. If accepted this could implicate me to ask a small payment fee (about 2 or 3 euros, never more than that) in order to get you guys the cups (they will surely be more expensive than the t-shirts, specially when it comes to postal charges). But if some of you (I, assuming the skepthical position, assume than I couldn't make everyone to contribute, so I'm assuming that some of you - not all - would help me) would contribute this could get real real nice...
Now that the competition rules are well done and close to perfection, the competency of the players would be assured by the will to contribute to the cups money. (Guys, if I had a job by now and make my own cash I would save you from this and certainly every podium member - either 2002 and 2003 - would have its cup)

We English are notoriously slow at embracing change, so I suggest we put this idea on the shelf 'til after CWT 2004 finishes, at which point a full discussion would commence. One reason for this is that this year's exact rules & regulations have not been tested yet - it wouldn't do to have a World Cup riddled with cock-ups.
The trophy idea is good too - would there be ones for second- and third-place?

[glow=green,5,0]Now this is a truly great idea. I do agree that it shouldn't be until next year but from then on would be suuuper! The tourni will have completed three years by then and has build up a good reputation for its self, thanks to its excellent host and its loyal competitors. I feel that this kind of change would really help the tourni move forward and can now be justified. Before the change to WWC, the rules must be cast in stone so that there is no possibility of argument or misunderstanding. Some ideas for cash: 1. Sponsorship! As we discussed before... 2. You could charge an entry fee... 3. Rather than having any sort of entry fee, have a donations system so that those who wish contribute cash can and those who dont do not have to. You'll be surprised as the tounri will pull in. A free donations system is available from www.paypal.com . Have a look. Si [/glow]

[shadow=purple,left,500]I concur with my friends above, and you can have a fews pounds for trophies from me anytime you like Crespo, the idea of making a donation through paypal sounds easy enough, well for those of us who are old enough to have credit cards anyway ;D.
So let's talk more about this after the 2004 tourney. [/shadow]

You have spoken wise words my friends. Me too thinks that making those improvements for 2003 should be a bit hard, so let's test the rules and improve ourselves first. I'll change this thread's name and make it sticky. P.S.: For sponsors purpose a site changing would be needed cuz' the sorver host of my site doesn't not allow those kind o' stuff in their (free) sites... Anyway Just picture the scene, www.wormsworldcup.com (this site does not exist) ... Jesus what a dream!

I would be more them happy to pay any entrance fee or donation, However, as a seller on Ebay I can tell U that PayPal is more trouble then its worth. U may want to look in to other ways of currency exchange. U have to pay a fee to PayPal if U want others to have to option of using a credit cards for payment to U, The free membership only gives the option of making payments by EFT directly from one's checking account. (Keep in mind that some of our members may be to young to have eather) I have used Bidpay in the past and found them to be trubble free. If someone pays you with a credit card Bidpay will simply mail U a money order, Anyway just a heads up on paypal.
Gee if CWT gets any bigger U may have to start running it like a business and hire volunteers for positions like Webmaster, Accountant and a board of directors for rule decisions. Who would have thought Crespo's little tournament would grow like this. I think its great
P.S. Bytor fears change... world cup good ...changing the CWT initials bad

Humm I also doubt those "net-payment" method. For those kind o' stuff I think I prefer the old-school method better. Either a sending a postal value to be collected in your local post office or even a bill in an envelope should be a better thing to do. I've also reminded myself how good will the competency of the wormers be. I mean, if someone is willing to contribute for those cups, then he will surely play his games ;D. Anyway Bytor, the only kind of money I would get would be the enough money to buy the trophys (or just help me to buy them). I certainly don't think of this as a method to get money from you fellows because the most important here is competing and playing THE GAME, I don't need your money and I don't want your money, but those cups can be have a considerable cost because the postal charges are higher than sending the t-shirts (they will have to travel on a FRAGILE box and I will send 3 cups, 1st, 2nd and 3rd) and being a student at the University has its costs... I can't afford to buy those kind of stuff with my money. Just picture a 30 cm tall trophy on your book shelf saying Worms World Cup 1st place... That would be a sight worthy of being seen throughout the generations of "wormy little Bytors" (your kids and stuff ... You have a point there, my name is going out of the competition's name. Well, if you think about it, it's not all bad. If a stranger visits the site he will think about the WWC, not "that guy's little tournament", so respect from strangers can be gained out of that name change (not that we actually need that respect to be happy). If these proposals have enough supporters for next year, well, that would be great. I've also been thinking about one other thing: CWT will end on the 1st semester of 2004 which leaves us with so so many time off-worms (some of you took a 6-month break on worms and there are even those that if weren't for me mailing them once in a while, then their contact would be lost), so I'm thinking of a competition for the 2nd semester of the year. Probably the TAF, the Tournament of Allied Forces. 10 or 12 teams of 2 wormers (only very competent wormers allowed because making 4 player games can become hard) from the same country split in 2 groups of 5 or 6 teams. best 2 of both groups make through to semi-final and final. It will contribute for CWT ranking. No home/away, only 1 game per oponnent in group stage in Intermediate b-o-3 (2 games would make these games hard to arrange). No more than 2 teams per nation are allowed and teams can't have 2 wormers above the 10th place in CWT ranking. In the future this competition WON'T have any kind of award but prestige. Only something to keep us playing and competing. Must go home now to study General Chemistry. Exam on Monday. See you guys around.

I don't like n v n games, where n > 1, so I'll probably give that un a miss. Also, I'm gonna be having a break from WWP after CWT, in which I'll play DX2:IW. Even if we do change it to the Worms World Cup, I think we'll all still call it CWT

mmm
Well i'm agree to give some money for "prizes" like tee shirts or other goodies (teeshirts,mugs,frisbees,etc...) but i dont like very much trophys ... i prefer "virtual" trophys like image in side of names like you do or your system ranking...
but if the idea of trophys is accepted : I can GIVE you some trophys (i think not the ONE but for 2nd place or 3rd)
So: RatoonSoft -prefers goodies than trophys -can give some cups -is ok to give some "euros"

The other day I went a bit sad when I thought "CWT will no longer exist..." so that name changing (CWT to WWC) is still a possibility but NOT granted. Besides, we all got used to CWT. About that allied tourney after CWT I also think that could be only fantasy form me demented mind. However some mini-leagues could be made much more easily than that. I thought of some mini leagues using a select scheme, for scheme versatility, you know ? One league usoing Pro, one using The Darkside, one using Classic, one using Blast Zone, one Artillery scheme and the last I thought of using the wormpot mode of Specialist mode. However these are only ideas... The point here is to find some kind of thing to keep most of us playing during the year, because a 6 month break is definetly too much stoppage time...

Speak for yourself I try and get 4-5 hours worming time in per day weather its playing CWT or just kicking the hell out of all the Noobs in anything goes ;-) I like having time off from the tournament. Makes me look forward to the start even more. I would be afraid that too much competition activity in CWT may cause some of our members to loose there zeal and intrust, U know too much of a good thing can make the good thing seem less good. Anyway my opinion is beast phrased by the quote "If it an't broke, don't fix it"

Yes I know big B., but you must realize that the comunity enlarges itself year after year and now I can't avoid leaving someone out of CWT, so those mini-leagues would more "open" competitions. Besides, I would only create the leagues that would bare a reasonable amount of wormers interested in playing them.
I really didn't want to spend 7 months with no competition. Hosting the qualifiers is fun but what's that compared with the excitement of actually taking place in the games?!
