Well, after trying to play WWP on my current computer for the first time, I have discovered that the annoying glitch that used to happen every now and then is now consistent and permanent.
Every time I start a game, the screen goes black. Sometimes I see nothing at all; sometimes I see only worms and objects. Either way is totally unplayable. I can't see a way of getting this fixed, and at this rate I'll never play another CWT game. I suppose I could use an older computer, but I'm not totally sure that would work either.
So this is a plea - can everybody please try to find a way that this problem could be fixed? I've looked all over the net, and I can't find any good advice.
I don't want to have to ask CWT games to be played on WA, but if my problem isn't resolved, I may have to.
Cheers.

I would borrow and try several graphics cards and see if this kinda fixes the problem. If that's the cause, nicely put your brand new 3D graphics card with pixel shaders 3.0 to the trash, cause it's no use for a wormer

Normally this problem is associated with the graphics card drivers. The palete colours for WWP get messed up.
1) see if different drivers are available, sometime older drivers work for WWP rather than the latest
2) turn off any accerlation, shading etc on your graphics card as this can change the palete.
3)This sounds crazy but has worked for me.. Run the game and when it turns black exit the game. Then change the appearance of windows by changing the colour scheme (this has the effect of resetting the colour palete). Then run the game again, this often works and saves a reboot.
4)You could install an old PCI graphics card as well as your AGP one. Then swap over to the PCI one when playing WWP.
You don't say what your current graphic card is, let me know and I'll think some more ;D

Also, programs running on background can cause wwp colors to turn... weird.

It's not the weird problem, I know what causes that.
Rolling back graphics drivers seems like a good idea, though I'm not sure I own an old PCI card. I'm running a G-Force FX 5600XT.

Hi Joe, I've been reading some newsgroups on the G-Force FX 5600XT graphics card and lots of people are having a whole heap of trouble with it and one's with similar chipsets. Even computer engineers have not been able to put it right. Most people have cut their losses and bought another graphics card. Sad news but there it is, sorry mate looks like you'll have to take on an extra paper round so you can buy another card. :-(

Really? Well that sucks. Look's like I'll be back on the old computer for WWP.
Everything else seems fine, so that's a plus. Cheers (Peter, is it?)
