Anybody seen Darasek? He didn't show up for the game last Sunday, and I haven't heard from him since. Where are you, mate?

So it has to come to this...
As you all know, the entire CWT comunity (i.e. both of its competitions, the CWT and the Qualifiers) had fallen asleep. As the host it is my job to make things work; the host has been trying to solve every single mess since 2002. Players who don't know how to lose, players who don t show up for this or that for their games, etc., etc. In 2002 the problems were a lot and from that year on they have diminished since the quality of the competitors along with their personality too, got siginficantly better. But after this point I can no longer say this. CWT 2005 started really nice with another good wae of newcomers and a good playing rate. After some point, without precise explanations everything just started to fall asleep. We are jumping into October and CWT hasn't finished. Only 2 groups of the qualifiers finished their deeds and the host doesn't have time or patienty to sove this. I am busy with: writing 2 scientific papers, analyzing spiders from 2 sites plus my foundation year specimens from the Savage Islands, planning a workshop that I'll lecture to my colleagues in some weeks, building 2 oral presentations and all my 7 graduation subjects fro this semester. I can't make CWT good enough to survive the sleep and the lazyness of its competitors (please bear in mind that when I say sleep and lazyness I'm also aware that many people have real life trouble, it's just an overall designation) like this. Therefore I am to say one thing only:
Everyone has until the end of 2005 to end both of the competitions. If neither the CWT 2005 or the Qualifiers are finished until December 31st I will TERMINATE CWT for indefinite time!
The host,
Luís Carlos da Fonseca Crespo

Sabotage! (recall Beasty Boys clip? ) ) Well then we have a pretty obvious solvation for this problem - technical loss 3:0 I don't see any reason for all cwters to suffer on account of a guy who is afraid to play his official game (Sorry Darasek but its true) On qualifying issue i really don't see any BIG problem now Games are played (I heard Frosty-MasterTool are playing now) Everybody are interested and motivated A new breed of very strong normalers are going to hit CWT rankings Even group C that was totally unactive is alive now So i vote for tech loss... Any other votes?

Come on... let's not get ahead of ourselves here... I don't think there's a question of Darasek being afraid to play his game. And certainly not a question of sabotage. It's true that he was unresponsive lately, and that I would have expected at least a 'heads up' email after he didn't make it for the scheduled match, but from here to 'technical loss'... I think there's a looong road. I can certainly understand if somebody's busy with real life stuff - after all, I am too , I can't say I would be available any date and time to play the game. To me, the most important goal of this tournament is to get to play as many great games as possible; who wins and who loses is... well, important, but not as much. Darasek is a player worth playing against, so I think not having the game at all would be a loss for CWT.

My point of view on this problem is simple If you are participating in the tournament. You should: 1. Follow its rules and play your games in time 2. If somehow this can't be done you should explain yerself to the host and (or) players who are involved. And as i know it would be NO PROBLEM at all! And if somebody acts otherwise Well he deserves a cow logo and a lifelong ban from the tournament plus (in our case) a 3:0 loss I know its may seem tough but its better than having a lot of great players (great guys! what the hell! ) sitting here and waiting for one darksider who is skipping his move while the whole CWT tournament is coming to the sudden death And believe me... I don't say it because i am a wanna-be newcomer diseased by the tournament addiction No I just take this whole thing serious as 99.9 % of people here do I dont want to thrust my opinion to anybody here though Just my 2 cents p.s. Anyway i fully agree with mielu on all his statements. But as he said he can't be available for a game forever so something needs to be done

I won't presume to comment on the main CWT tournament but I feel I should regarding the slow play in qualifiers being involved myself.
Crespo, I'm not trying to shift the blame to you but I think that one of the factors in this might be that there has not been any official penalties this year when people are falling behind.
I think the qualifiers started at 13th of August, so that would make the end of the 6th journey at 12 October... Should this now mean that you (or your right hand man if you are busy?) start issuing penalties if people are not played their 6th game by then?
The rules state that each player must make at least 1 game per 10 day journey. So isn't one function of the qualifiers about finding out the reliable players as much it is about finding the best wormers? I mean I personally would be happier waiting for an eager replacement to play their games and catch up rather than trying to get an absent or unwilling wormer to play their few remaining matches.
As for myself, I know I was forced to be away for a period but even so I did not fall behind in my schedule. According to my calculations I needed to play my 5th game by 2 Oct which I did, just. In fact 15 out of 32 wormers are still within schedule (I'm counting in the 3 from group G as they have not had a choice in the matter) If you add others who came joined late or others who have had valid reasons for their delays then I'd say more than half the wormers are still within targets.
After a quick glance at last year's board, I think the qualifiers started around 31st July. By 11th August the first message appears, warning that certain people were in danger of getting their first warning and by 13th August 7 wormers were awarded first penalties... If only we had similar enforcement this year, we might be in a better position.
I'm just saying that as, by your own admission, you are so busy, perhaps you should delegate some of these more mundane tasks to someone like MrTPenguin (if he is willing)? And feel free to slap me around if I'm stepping on your toes here, Crespo!
