Well, I've been thinking...
Quite an argument I put up... The schemes... In our last two chats, Konrad told me "There will be a load of problems around schemes...". Unfortunately, Konrad's prophecy is much accurate.
The major problem here is, like said in Simon's post, the fact that some of us prefer this or that scheme:
Let me tell you guys a bit of my own personal life story in Worms... When Worms: Armageddon was released, I already had played loads of games in Worms 2, and I have standartized my worming style to a scheme of my own creation, making me very close-minded... When I actually faced some friends offline (I only got access to Wnet with WWP) and I was forced to play with some other scheme my worming power lowered enough to a point where the others said: "Hey! You are not that good as I heard you were..." (actually nobody ever told me that, but it was what my self-conscience was thinking) One of my friends kept telling me: "You are an awesome wormer, but with your scheme only. With other schemes you are much easier to take down..." Well, for much I didn't want to believe that, that was true. And with the arrival of WWP, I extended myself to playing other schemes so I gained what I call scheme versatility... I always play normal and only normal, but when it comes to schemes I try to play with every "playable" default scheme available.
I decided to post what I did last wednesday cuz' of the fact that I've been noticing that about 80% of the now played CWT matches were made all on the same schemes (Intermediate and intermediate II). And I give the 20% margin cuz' I haven't been told about what scheme was used in all the made games. So, I intend to suggest you guys other schemes to be played in the Tournament. Maybe there are those of you who don't agree in having some of the following schemes to be added because they don't support a game-style you are actually used to. God knows I'm not used to play with these schemes also, but 2 or 3 games I had last wednesday were games that could well be CWT finals.
I will refer to all the schemes that I think should played in CWT in a way that should be understood as being Crespo, the wormer talking, not as Crespo, the host; due to that, I may seem agressive, but assure you I will decide over this matter by judging over your opinions as well as my own. I shall not be accused of being an unfair host cuz' I am not.
[glow=red,2,300]INTERMEDIATE[/glow] » The well known scheme for all of us might still be played.
[glow=red,2,300]PRO[/glow] » Many of you hate Pro scheme, for me the only problem with it it's the fact that in the latest parts of the games you get a bit tied up when it comes to weapons. Take stockpiling off and there you have it... The end of all Pro problems.
[glow=red,2,300]TOURNAMENT[/glow] » Similar to Pro, but with some changes that make it more playable than Pro. Some more weapons such as a Minigun, more ropes and 3 Select Worms make it a very interesting scheme... Playable, as far as I'm concerned. Don't like the weapons stockpiling cuz' of the bug-risk and have to start it over? Then waste them all on the first round, and then, if you actually don't get bugged, pray for the gods... We face risks everytime, I wouldn't like to see stockpiling schemes out of my tournament cuz' of that (it really reaches for your brain trying to get the maximum damage/kills with the least resources so you have more resources in the further rounds).
[glow=red,2,300]CLASSIC[/glow] » Many of you don't like this scheme. I have nothing against it. You have infinite rope shots. So what? If you have a problem with that have some rope practice! Worm Select on? Some of you hate it. Don't see why. By having Worm Select on you get to save your unsafe worms so that they actually have a chance to do something more than drowning. You get to play with all worms of your team and try to make faster and more powerful moves. Personally, I have nothing against that scheme.
[glow=red,2,300]ARTILLERY[/glow] » The first of my new suggestions, it's quite an ortodox scheme for those of you who are used to the old and boring shotgun-based game of Intermediate or Pro. When I played this scheme I got so relieved: "Ufff... Finally a game with NO SHOTGUN!!" You have to cripple the oponnent's worms with moves that need a considerable amount of skill to achieve success. It was an awesome match I played last wednesday with this scheme.
[glow=red,2,300]STRATEGIC[/glow] » A totaly normal style game. No Select Worms. 60 seconds to play. Too much? Big deal, it's the same for both teams... Weapons stay once more. So what? You have loads of ropes, if that's your problem.
[glow=red,2,300]THE DARKSIDE[/glow] » A scheme that enhances the strategy of the match. Sometimes when you see yourself in such a great advantage as a 4 to 1 worm situation everything gets crooked when you see the Scales of Justice giving the enemy a Goliath worm (of course you gotta run to Axe him out
) that may kill all of your tiny worms. This scheme is a mandatory one. It's special weapons add such a special flavour to the game...
[glow=red,2,300]SPECIALIST MODE (Wormpot)[/glow] » This Wormpot mode also adds this special flavour to the game. With this you develop your grenadier and bazzokaer skills and it makes you think diferently. You must know which worm does what and who to kill first. I say this is probably my favourite Wormpot mode.
[glow=red,2,300]BLAST ZONE[/glow] » The most heavy scheme (besides Full Wormage) around. Worms are pretty heavy theirselves also with 200 of health. You carry many powerful weapons but wasting a 200 health worm may become quite difficult. There's always the murky depths, though...
To play with this scheme a map with a lot of land is needed. You can imagine what would happen in a diferent kind of map... This scheme it's still a big head-ache for me. It was first suggested by Konrad, and I'm not totaly convinced this would be playable. You should leave your thoughts once again...
By the way, Javito: the only style here is normal. But within normal style, there are multiple schemes, comprendes amigo?
And the more games needed issue was already discussed, not here but in the "Clan" thread. Try to go there and see it.
Now, if new schemes would be added there is also the need to have a mechanism to randomize the scheme for our games. I could do that, but if you don't trust me we would have to find a kind of a program to use for this thing... For now, I would like to hear from you about these schemes. And of course if you have more schemes in mind share the thoughts with us!
Once more, I am sorry to give you guys such of an hard time with another huge post... But I am the host, so when new thoughts or ideas come to mind, I show them to you right away.
