Just five days gone and 1/2 of players (16 out of 32) are registered. It is good, caz we can start soon Maybe I am a bit out of topic, but how the qualification in group will be made? Will we have the same as football's UEFA Champions League format? I moved some recent posts from the "Sign up for CWT season 2010" topic. I hope it's okay, Joschi. Anyway, in 2010 the rules of the tournament are kept small, it's nice actually. If there are any questions left, please ask them here and we give instructions. - Zemke

yep, it is clear. And how the procedure of qualification in group will be?
In UEFA Champions league there are four baskets before qualification in groups is made. The strongest clubs are in the first basket, while in the forth are the weakest clubs.
It is made in order not to have all strong clubs in one group, such as for example Barcelona, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid.
Do we use ONL ranking or previous CWT results to sead wormers to baskets before qualification in groups is made? Or it will be different?

Yes, we are ranking all participants into 4 baskets. There we (organizations team) follow subjectiv principes. Of course last years CWT and this years ONL stats will influence ours decision too. So we go the same way like last years.

well it is clear, but what team will decide who to put in the one, two, three or four basket? Well, I propose to make a closed pool about whom to put in which basket, maybe it will be good? Caz all participants can decide. And it will be a bit more fair. So, what you think? And the pool is better to organize I think in such manner, for example: Strengh of wormers out of 100: Dario - 97 Jochi - 96 Kayz - 96 NormalPRO - 78 zoku - 89 ... etc. all 32 wormers. And according to the results it will be easier to put in baskets. The more players we ask the more fair it will be and less subjective. Anyway, just an idea

I honor your rising interest at coming CWT, mate. But I doubt that the result of your proposed way is a lot different to my intended way. It will be a team of 3 wormers (who are also active in ONL). I don't think that it's neccesary, to invite more people for giving their opinion.
Please also consider, (1) that the ranking is only decisive each 8th interval. What I want to say is, that it doesn't matter, if you are listed at 1st or 8th place, you are ranked in "basket 1"; (2) the strenght of a group is also subjective. So why the system shouldn't be? There will await a lot more unpredictable factors in the upcoming tourney then this group thing.
In conclusion, why we should change a good running system? In last year we may had a lot of complains, but nobody claimed about the groups. It just means more work for everybody of us.
EDIT: I don't expect that the sign-ups will be closed before 19th of October. So the realization of your proposed way seems to be difficult.

I think U should public "PO tree" now if U want use some from previous tournaments. Since 2003 till 2008 it was always same, 1 a vs 2e 1 h vs 2d 1 c vs 2g 1 f vs 2b 2a vs 1e 2h vs 1d 2c vs 1g 2f vs 1b Then Kham change it a bit, but I dont know exactly how it works in last year. I think in tournamnets liek this its very important, so mods wont be acused for cheats Joschi told me it will be like in Champions league so: 1e vs 2a 1b vs 2c 1c vs 2e 1a vs 2h 1d vs 2f 1g vs 2b 1h vs 2d 1f vs 2g CHL system looks really crazy, ot its just random after group stage?? I think it's random! If we make it random it will be better and more exiting... without "calculating".

After group stage all players are gonna be put in pots again. One pot consisting of first placed players and the other pot consisting of second placed players. An admin presses the "Create group" button and the system pairs the players randomly with some restrictions: Place one will always play against place two and players from the same group will never clash. Example: First placed player of group A will play against second player of group B, C, D, E, F, G or H - it's unpredictable.

Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, but how can we be sure that you actually choose the PO pairs randomly? Sounds fishy to me. Better to know your next possible opponent beforehand.
