OK, let's see who the smart money is on to win this year! Obvious favourites include current champion Xaositect, finalist Crespo, and basically anyone on the top half of the 2002 league table, but there are many other gifted wormers out there. Perhaps you have played one of the newcomers, such as Kortren or MrTPenguin, and been blown away, or maybe you believe that Zero (my personal "dark horse" favourite) has got what it takes to go all the way this year.
If your favourite is not on the poll, simply select "other" and post their name in your reply. When the poll is completed by everyone who is going to vote, I will compile an "odds" table, based on the opinions of the forum users, which will be used in a mock "gamnbling" game at a later date.
Peace,
USM

Hummm... Tough choice here... Much of the new comers will certainly kick some ass as well as the wormers from last year. Anyway I never played any of the new comers yet so far so I'll vote in one of last year's wormers... Now I have a lot of doubts... Zero hasn't played at his best, just like my cousin Pipinasso... So I'll go for the most regular wormer last year... My vote goes to the kangaroo's land for Xaositect. Crespo

I've played against the 3 podium wormers (in last tourney or in a friendly match) and i must recognise that all of them can win the tournament again. But also it's true that in Worms there's an important factor that can decide the winner: The LUCK. So, it's hard to say who will arrive far or who will miss at the beginning. Let's see what happens GL & HF FOR ALL

I agree with Javito on this. In Worms, skill can increase your chances of winning... but luck will always be the ultimate deciding factor. This is very true when worm placement is random, where there is a possibility that all of your worms can start on top of a bridge full of mines and oid drums...

Generally you should use teleport in option during the tourney this removes initial bad luck.....but dont get me wrong, even when teleported in Luck plays a huge role, just ask poor teletubbies

Thinks.... there really are so many good players in the tourney that as UrbanSpaceman says it could be anyone in the top half of the league table, but as it's a knockout tournament you just need 1 bad day to wreck your chances. I think consistency, tactics and good roping skills make up the great Normal Game player. So who to pick? I haven't played Crespo in a real match, so its hard to make a comment but having come second, he'll be a hard wormer to keep down. UrbanSpaceman & Bytor have some of the best rope skills I've seen. Xoasitect is there as winner and for sheer unrelenting pressure of play, a great all rounder. Javito & Zero both very strong players, and me, well to be honest, with this level of play I'll be glad just to make it through to the play offs.
I think this year we will all need to play to a higher standard just to keep up, particularly with the new players coming in. I’ve just played MrTPenguin, another great roper and good normal game player & I’m sure there are plenty more waiting in the wings. But at the end of the day my vote goes to Xoasitect, I think he has a good chance of making it 2 in a row, unless of course you know differently ;D

well to be honest, with this level of play I'll be glad just to make it through to the play offs. I think you were being unduly harsh on yourself with that comment.... I would consider myself to be one of the better players in the tournament, and yet I got my ass handed to me in our 3rd place match. Don't forget, there's a reason you've got a medal next to your name on Crespo's site and so many good wormers haven't.

I'm new to the world of CWT, and therefore cannot predict with accuracy who I think will win in 2003. From the standings thus far, I would tip DustedTrooper to go a long way, as he is a polished normal-game player.

There are only 5 wormers left to register in the group charts and right now I can't resist to make a general overview of how the tournament will go when it starts. Group A: The yet lonely Pipinasso waits to raise his reputation after being smashed out in the past year's eight-final match versus Javito. Group B: Although a titanic battle will be fought between Teletubbbies and Xaositect, I believe both of them will go through pretty confortably to playoff. Group C: It may be one of the closest groups in the tournament. Javito, tixas, kortren and GForce have good references and I won't dare to make any kind of predictions about this group. Goup D: MrTPenguin is the most known (although a new comer to the tournament dementia world) to cause some damage among us. My cousin Pipinasso from Group A has played some friendly matches with him and he told me on the phone "He is a good wormer." I believe he will go through to the playoff, but the second one well... I can't tell... Group E: Two left to fill it. Zero is there. I say he goes through. Rigga is not bad; further developments are yet to be known. Group F: Unless Spike surprises the crowds by taking out Simon or Bytor, I see that these last fellows will go through to playoff. No danger is to be espected from Satan666... Group G: My group. I won't specifically predict anything cuz' it's not ethically correct doing so. But I'm tempted to say that this will be one of the most close groups in the tournament. Hope I go through... Group H: UrbanSpaceman is favourite for first place in this group. But I can't say more cuz' I don't know CACAPHONY's or ShamsheL's worming level... That is all my cristal ball says for now... I little fog inside it as you see...

I have invited "The Polonia" to the 2003 CWT; Konrad is one of my most feared and respected opponents in worms.
He'll do well :-)
