Last night I did something awesome, even if I do say so myself! Here's what happened:
Every so often, I play a few rounds of the "quick game against the computer" (QGATC) before I finish a session of worms. I aim to win each round in no more than four turns, ie. to kill at least one enemy worm per turn. Let me begin by describing the layout at the beginning of my first QCATC of this fateful day. It was set on a medium-sized island with mostly small objects. There were two enemy worms (about an inch apart) by the sea on the left, there was one within baseball batting distance of the sea on the right, and the remaining one was in an enclosed, sea-exposed section in the bottom right. The PC went first; the right-hand-side worm of the two by the sea (on the left) zooked (it hit one of my worms causing ~40 damage, I think) and then - crucially - retreated and piled with the left-hand-side worm. At this point I decided I was going to fire-punch those two worms into the sea. So, when my turn began I rotated to the my closest worm to the enemy pile, and then fired a rope. I then noticed that there were two mines close to the pile, so I swung to the one on the right and set it off. It exploded and knocked the other one into the pile, which then itself exploded, causing the two worms to be blown into the sea! At this point (after ~20 secs of the total 45), the possibility of three kills entered my mind, which made me a little bit tense :-). I immediately roped to the enemy worm on the right, and was just about to get the bat out when I noticed that the fourth enemy worm was 45 degrees below-right of the worm I was about to bat. With ~10 secs remaining I made a snap decision to try to kill both worms with a kamikaze. I was now getting quite excited by the possibilty of killing all four in one turn :-D ! I got into kamikaze mode and was about to fire when I realised that the worm I was standing next to probably wouldn't reach the sea... So, in the dying seconds, I activated low gravity, hastily returned to kamikaze mode and, with 1 second remaining, fired. Both worms went into the sea. So, for the first time in my life and without initially intending to, I won a QGATC in ONE TURN! Those of you who have won very important and/or very difficult games in your lives will probably understand how I felt when those two last worms hit the water ;-D. It was an achievement I will cherish for a long time to come.
I'd be very interested to know if any of you lot have ever done this, and, if you have, I would be very very interested in knowing how you did it :-).
