Crespo has often said that CWT (i.e. the CWT community) is the only place a pro can go if he wants a high-level normal game. Several weeks ago, I thought this was a bit of an exaggeration, but given the pitiful state of players/games in WN2 at the moment, I'm now inclined to agree with him. The Shoppa - that infantile, lightheated game of luck - has spread through WN2 like AIDS, and now reigns supreme.
One day, we might reconquer WN2, but in the meantime we must be grateful for what we have: CWT.

I couldn't agree with you more. It sickens me to see the amount of LOLZ HUU KN HOST PROPA these days. Even the normal games i've joined and hosted, the people who join look like they've never played a normal in their lives.
On a separate point - am I the only CWT blokey who still uses WN1?

Roberto amigo, I have just printed your post and I'll probably save it for posterity, so I can read it when I have white fuzzy beard on me face.

I also would like to point out that most of "normal" sessions consist in a game using Super Rope mode and crates, crates and more crates, making the game easy to play and really really depending on the crates's faith. Yes, it will be hard to form new normal pros out of these things...

I think of the "normal game" with super rope and a crate shower as being a half-caste of the normal that we know and love, and the shoppa that we sneer at. The defining characteristics of the people who play 'em are the instinctive firing of the rope at the start of every turn, and the low priority placed on winning or indeed playing well at all.
It's depressing when they show a bit of promise, as they will probably sink deeper into their cesspit of pseudo-normal shopping, never to look back.

Rope used any more frequently than any one weapon = not a normal game.
in my opinion, anyway

I'm agree with you men. When i host a normal game, some wormers ask me: -"Can you put the infinite ropes" me: -"no"
héhé!
I remember when i discovered this game on my amiga500 (worms1)...
To play with ropes i prefered " Fury of the furries " do you know it?

Fury of the furries was a GOOD game (near 1992) like another one named "lost vikings" It's a platform game. You control three (or four) "furries" by turn and they each have a speciality -one for make a hole or climb -one can swim -another can bring object and push -and the last can use ropes ... héhé It was a marvellous game ... look here to see 2 screenshots: www.classicgaming.com/amigareviews/furyofth.htm

Yeah! Fury of the furries exist for our PCs! It's an "abandongame" now; it's free and easily downloadable on internet... Try to search : abandon games+fury of the furries
But it work only in DOS system so you must have a bootdisk ... But it's highly valuable man! (+ if you like lost vikings) ... I'm going to try and give you some "infos"

For the ones who are interested, my nickname comes from this game. I chose this nick in 1994 because I loved it, and I don't think Worms invented the cool ropes physics you all now master... this game did. Here is a small review of it : www.mobygames.com/game/sheet/gameId=593/There are two screenshots showing my prefered fury, the green one, cause he's got the rope, hehe. The gameplay is almost exactly like in a shoppa with super rope (the rope even follows exactly all the background collisions like in Worms), except the fact that it's a short rope, even compared to the normal rope length. Here are the 2 shots of the green fury currently roping : www.mobygames.com/game/shots/p,2/gameId,593/gameShotId,2939/ www.mobygames.com/game/shots/p,2/gameId,593/gameShotId,2947/ I think RatoonSoft will be happy to read this cause he loved this game too hehe So there, now you all know where the rope concept comes from ;D

We've got two PCs at our house. On one of them, 'Fury of the Furries' works, but it's unplayably slow. On the other one, it won't work at all. How long will this fantastique game elude me?...
In the meantime, I'm playing 'The Lost Vikings' again ;D

Yeah! I like Fury (of the furries) but only in my "souvenir"-(remembrances?) cause i've played long time ago on my beloved Amiga500 computer. My old-new PC (PIII650mhz) is too strong for this old game, I tried but never want to work... PS: Your avatar is really cool Fury.
