I agree with you all but wouldn't apply that 'rule' in group stage, since we have home/away system. In 2004 I played against Dusted, he picked 3 caves when he hosted, and I picked 3 isles to make things even. Was fair enough

Haha, nice Jigsaw . Do you know my point: I don't care. If you play open map without any misses your oppoent won't win if he do some misses (well i don't remember i lost on open map playing without a miss). So everything depends on your skill. About caves SirG: we become more and more expirienced in tactics, and try to watch (i did it, cause i was fed up with talking about map, and i am now actually ) how you get your worms staying. You should know that it is not actually that important if a man kill two of your worms at first turn but MUCH more important if your worms stay higher or lower on cave and it influence VERY much. And please don't say that Cave is balanced in this question. I would say it is kinda random. You can have 5 low worms and your opponent only 3 - but it is not a problem BUT! if you have 6 or 7 low worms it is kinda damnishit . I would prefer to lose 3 worms at first turn but have other 5 alive worms upper opponent's worms.

It has recently come to my attention that there's a wormer who not only plays in caverns-only when he hosts, but also with always the same terrain! Less extremely, there are wormers who play mostly on islands (including a certain flightless bird ) and there are those who play underground most of the time. In the light of this, and in the name of balance, I think we should add a rule for the Knockout Stage, like this: Knockout Stage games (first to 3) should be played on alternating pairs of map-types (Island, Cavern), ie, either: II-CC-II-CC... or CC-II-CC-II...
If, however, both players either 1) don't care, or 2) have a mutual preference, then they can play in the way that the host wants.Sound okay?
